Achieving - Paul wasn't seen as anything academically wonderful at Primary School but when he got to King Edwards he became friends with people who were very bright. Once he too started to achieve he got the bug. Whatever it was, Paul wanted to do it well.
Motor Sport - being Dave's son he loved motorcycle racing and Car GPs - watching them on his laptop. He would often talk to me about the Isle of Man TT reaces as we had both gone with his dad.
University Challenge - every Monday he would come and join us to watch - try and get more answers right than Phil 9not that he ever did) and comment on the Students...
His Alfa Romeo - The day after he passed his test he bought his beloved car. Its Italian foibles made him smile but he loved its leather seats, its gadgets, its cruise control (sitting at 50 on the A614 going to work with cars behind him gave him a smug satisfaction).
Having a nap - even as a child he liked his afternoon nap and if he could do it as an adult - he did !
Playing with the cat - Kandy to be precise, but actually if we are being precise 'tormenting' was a better word. He used to pick her up and 'dangle' her so that as she relaxed ( gave up?) she got longer and longer. He would stand watching TV seeing how long she stayed still and when she started to wriggle he would launch her at the settee... and she always came back for more!
Mayonnaise and grated cheese on everything.
Being frugal - especially when he wasn't working. He would come to the supermarket with me and put items back on the shelf saying " we don't need that " (this could be really annoying )and he insisted I buy Value Cereals for him. He would also turn the Central heating off or down....
